Why Sustainable... Why Now?


Buildings contribute about 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions - well ahead of industry, and even greater than what is produced by vehicles.  People who make buildings are therefore in a unique position to make a difference.


Projects built in the private sector generally face the triple realities of wanting to do the right thing for the environment, wanting to create a great place for people, and at the same time needing to achieve value and profit.  Happily, the state of the art has progressed to the point where designers know how to achieve those multiple goals through integrated design.  The essence of integrated design is a multi-discipline team working together to create integrated win-win solutions.
