Shaping Environments - Changing Lives Form4 gives back to the community through its participation and Board of Director position with Design Response. Design Response, http://designresponse.org, a 501(c) not-for-profit agency assists other non-profits by designing and renovating their spaces so that they can better accomplish their missions. One of the most ambitious projects Design Response has undertaken is renovating the Achievekids School Campus in Palo Alto. Achievekids is a special school that serves children and youth who have difficult emotional and development disorders that cannot be handled in a traditional educational environment. Several design firms volunteered their time and resources to renovate the campus. Form4 provided accessibility (ADA) evaluation and a general construction survey. As a result we redesigned the courtyard into a super-scale checkerboard that playfully connects all the classrooms and solves access issues. We also renovated the Art Room in partnership with Sobrato Construction. The centerpiece is a wall-sized mural painted by Form4 staff member Karen Fourgo who, in addition, volunteered her time to work with the children and cultivate their excitement for art. From Executive Director Michael Gennette: "The words thank you do not fully express our gratitude for the impact you have had on our school.
